Are you able to disable the video preview on Google Duo when you are calling someone?

Yes, you can disable the Knock Knock option from within Google Duo settings
 

  1. Open settings inside Duo from the upper right 3 dot option
  2. Click on the Knock Knock option
  3. Disable the Knock Knock option
  4. Back out of settings

This should disable the preview to other caller when you are calling them before they answer!
